Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT-M & PGT-SR)
PGT-M and PGT-SR are tests that help experts at RADfertility evaluate embryos for genetic risk factors that are identified through preconception screening.
What Is Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic/Single Gene Defects (PGT-M)?
An embryo that appears healthy can contain genetic mutations. Preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic/single gene defects (formerly known as PGD) provides information that helps to minimize the risk of passing on a serious genetic condition. Couples who are carriers of inherited genetic diseases can consider PGT-M testing to increase the chances of a healthy embryo selection. PGT-M tests for diseases such as:
- Sickle Cell Anemia
- Tay-Sachs Disease
- Cystic Fibrosis
What Is Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Chromosomal Structural Rearrangements (PGT-SR)?
What if I Don’t Know if I Am a Carrier?
As part of RADfertility’s routine initial patient work up, you will be offered testing for certain genetic diseases, in order to develop an appropriate plan of care. If both partners are carriers for specific genetic mutations, PGT-M offers the most appropriate solutions to identify those embryos that lack the familial genetic disease mutations.
Genetic karyotyping, also known as chromosome analysis, is testing that can reveal certain chromosome abnormalities. Karyotypes are done for couples that have an increased risk and if identified, PGT-SR is available.

PGT-A
Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A) is a tool used to optimize the efficiency of IVF, increasing the likelihood of a successful pregnancy.
PGT-M and PGT-SR
Preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic/single gene defects (PGT-M) and (PGT-SR) are tests that help evaluate embryos for genetic risk factors.
