Good Nutrition, An Active Lifestyle Can Improve Fertility For Many Couples

An active approach to positively changing one’s lifestyle can improve fertility for many men and women who use assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF, according to a recent article in The Seattle Times.
Weight and metabolic issues impact fertility in a variety of ways, including reducing the effectiveness of fertility treatments and increasing the risk of complications during pregnancy. Severe obesity can also cause further complications, such as an increased risk for preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, large gestational age infants, and hypertension during pregnancy.
Some women who struggle with both weight gain and fertility challenges may have a condition known as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS affects about 5% of women worldwide. By reducing their body weight through an active lifestyle and maintaining good nutrition, women with PCOS can manage their symptoms and increase the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy.
RADfertility offers lifestyle counseling for all patients who are interested in optimizing their success during their fertility treatments and improving their overall reproductive health.
